Aldenham School raises £2000 from sponsored walk for Meningitis charity
2:10pm Friday 3rd February 2012
Pupils from Aldenham School have raised £2000 for meningitis research, after taking part in a sponsored walk.
The sponsorship money from the walk, which more than 600 pupils and staff took part in for the Meningitis Research Foundation, has finally been collected and counted.
Pupils decided to do the sponsored walk last term after Year 11 pupil Harry Tucker spoke to the school council about how the illness had affected his family after his uncle died from the disease.
Pupils and staff took on the three mile charity walk on October 21 last year and have now finally collected all the money and given it to the charity.
Pupils were also given an assembly by Bradley Bernett from Meningitis Research Foundation who explained the symptoms of the disease and how it affects people.
Mr Bernett returned to the school where he was presented with a cheque from the schools donation from Harry Tucker.
