Hertfordshire County Council approves tax rate freeze
9:30am Wednesday 22nd February 2012
A freeze on council tax for the third year in a row was agreed by Hertfordshire County Council yesterday.
The council has also committed to investing in essential services for the county, whilst also reducing its debt.
Thanks to a council tax freeze grant from central government, people living in Band D Properties will pay the same amount as last year of £1118.83.
In the budget the council has committed £70m to road maintenance, £20m towards continuing improvement of the county’s care homes and further school expansions for the increased demand.
The council has already made savings by reducing its staff and money spent on agency workers.
