Tabard 19 St Albans 10
2:33pm Tuesday 16th March 2010
In an unexciting London Division Two North West encounter at Cobden Hill on Saturday, Tabard ran in three tries to see off St Albans 19-10.
Tabard, who gained promotion last week, were on top in the set scrums thanks to a fine performance by the front five and, though they never really looked like losing, they never got their game going.
With both sides making mistakes, the game was more like an end-of-season affair than a local derby.
Tabard did start well, however, with the first try coming on five minutes, Joe Cunningham the man going over.
Neil Hopcroft then ran 40 metres for a fine try, which stand-off Jack Reilly converted for a 12-0 half-time lead.
Murphy added another try in the second half, which Reilly again converted, though the visitors did notch two tries for themseves.
Tabard travel to Hammersmith & Fulham on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Tabard's second team saw off Stevenage 74-0 to reach the final of the League Cup.
